Watching some hockey and pondering things
Hockey is happening tonight. I’m watching the Stanley Cup finals on TNT. Apparently, the Oilers are committing a lot of penalties tonight in the first period. That is not a recipe for success. We will see if the Panthers end up gaining the initiative and an advantage in the series. Going up 3-1 might be the deciding factor that tilts things beyond recovery in the series. This evening before the hockey started, I actually walked the last few holes of a golf course. It was a pleasant 90-minute walk. Early into the walk, a few minutes of rain really helped temper the heat. Sometimes a walk outside in the evening is really a nice way to wrap up the day. The rest of my evening is going to be devoted to watching an entire hockey game. This first period is almost over, and the Oilers are going to need to start doing something, or this one is going to get away from them before they know it. Oh goodness, that final minute goal in the first period was really something you cannot allow. Down 3 goals after the first is not the best way to start this pivotal game.
During my walk, I spent some time thinking about and deeply considering the concept of honor. It was something that really came to the forefront of my thoughts and dominated my consideration. You can really control your actions and how you choose to interact with others. I would say that you can make the choice to walk an honorable path. Nobody can take that choice away from you, and it is something that is personal. Maybe that sounds a bit esoteric, but I think it is probably generally understood. That is where my thoughts ended up during my walk. Maybe that is something that deserves consideration. It really is something that probably should get some deep consideration from time to time. Most of the time I ponder the idea of a perfect possible future. Those concepts certainly share components.
This second period is going to be interesting. A goalie change has been made. Right now, the hockey season is starting to reach the end of the line. The Panthers may be well on their way to closing out the series during the next game. The Oilers had a better 2nd period. I was not really expecting them to get back into this game after that terrible start, but they seem to at least be trying to get things back on track. Apparently, they are making an effort to tie this one up at 3-3. Both teams have scored 3 consecutive goals during this game. Things are going to get interesting in the 3rd period of this hockey game for sure. I’m ready to watch the 3rd period.
