Striving to do your best at each task
It’s apparently Friday the 13th. That happened. Tonight I’m planning to watch the NBA finals on ABC. So far the NBA finals broadcasts available over-the-air have been crisp and steady. More sports should be delivered this way, but I know we are going to see more streaming gardens with effective paywalls making it almost impossible to watch all the games. Maybe some of the leagues will figure out how to just go direct and sell complete access via streaming solutions. I would prefer just being able to access the games via the antenna, but for something I really want to watch consolidation would be better than fragmentation. Watching sports should not be as hard as it has become. Fragmentation within the various games on different streaming platforms is generally confusing.
I have been doing a lot of soul searching in the last couple of days. Part of that has included considering how important it is to strive to do the best you are able to do at each task in front of you. Taking the time to focus and do your best at things is really an important part of the process. Just getting things done to check them off the list is one way to go about things, but it could easily be replaced with a little bit of focus, effort, and sustained excellence. That is the argument that I’m making at the moment that making the choice to create sustained excellence is worth the effort in the end. It has to be worth it to you. You cannot make that sort of choice for others. You cannot expect others to truly appreciate things they may not see or even consider. It’s unrealistic to expect somebody else to fully understand what you are doing and why you make certain choices. Certainly people can evaluate the outcomes and will always have opinions about them, but the process and effort itself may not be visible for consideration.
They are about to start NBA Finals game number 4. They jumped for the ball at center court, and OKC started off with some quick points. Things are off to a very quick start tonight. That could mean we are going to get to see a pretty decent game. Tomorrow, I’m going to be watching hockey. We are getting a good mix of NBA and NHL games during the Finals. My plan for this Friday night was to try to generate a lot more words. Maybe a couple thousand words. This new writing journey involves just producing what is going to be written, giving it a basic review, and then posting it without any self-censorship. The game tonight is not really holding my attention. I’m already considering watching some Andromeda, but I’ll try to avoid taking that path. That path will be avoided if at all possible.
