Some Sunday cleaning
Today I’m cleaning the hardwood floors with my trusty Hoover hardwood floor cleaner. The first pass at it went a little differently than I expected. Apparently, I missed a step and did not notice that the scrubbing brushes were not attached to the machine. I picked up the whole cleaning unit and the brushes had just stayed sitting on the floor in the garage. That does explain why the first round of cleaning today required several refills of the solution chamber vs. the second round that maybe required half as many. Cleaning the floor twice this morning was a big post-breakfast adventure. After that cleaning extravaganza, it seemed like a good idea to watch the epic feature film Serenity (2005) on streaming and recover from all that hardwood floor cleaning. I think they still sell the exact same Hoover FloorMate hardwood floor cleaner all over the place. We are at the point in the product lifecycle where we probably need to buy a new set of scrubbing brushes. Oddly enough, replacement brushes are like 30% of the total cost of the unit. We have had this particular cleaning machine since 2017, and it has worked well enough. It really does clean the hardwood. You have to take your time, and sometimes I have done more than one pass, but it works, and I think it's better than using an old-fashioned mop and bucket.
