Revisiting a bit of focus
The one with just a little bit of weekly blogging. Don't worry I packaged all my notes up into this one weekly post.
Focus. It’s on the menu this week. Seriously, starting this week I’m going to really focus on my content creation plan across my various Substack entities. Right now that includes 4 distinct writing efforts related to the Lindahl Letter, nels.ai, Civic Honors, and my functional journal. Those 4 different areas of focus should all receive a really solid post every week or maybe 2 posts a week if I was to really focus all my time on producing high quality content. For some reason, I seem to just gravitate toward writing my weekly Lindahl Letter missives.
With purpose we strive to overcome obstacles. Purpose drives us forward toward that perfect possible future. Consider, reflect, and be mindful about knowing your purpose.
It feels like more and more writers are showing up on Substack these days. We will see what communities end up getting stronger. They will probably be sortable into communities of place, interest, and circumstance.
The velocity of academic article publishing is off the charts these days. It’s pretty much impossible to keep up with all of them these days. The bottom floor of the academy is flooded with content.
This weekend has included a lot of football watching and some hockey.
False starts are a part of the writing process. Sometimes you get a few sentences written and then things just stop. Other times, that is maybe all that needs to be said and the process is just about creating that first little bit of what should have been a lot more content. I’ll admit that my efforts this week to post 4 or more notes each day on Substack feels like a microcosm of that writing conundrum. It was maybe something where the slug or quick post should have translated to more. Perhaps that is what I don’t like about microblogging or note posting in the first place. I’m more of a let’s sit down and write until something interesting happens sort of creative. Stream of consciousness style efforts are always going to be the base of my wheelhouse and that is just how it works.
