Oh that weekly blogging adventure
We are at that point in the cycle where I’m thinking about the weekly blogging adventure and wondering about the process of writing, creating, and publishing. That is where we are at and it is not an uncommon place to be during some weekend reflective consideration. We are in peak football season with lots of college and professional games being broadcast throughout the weekend. I’m still focused on consuming my sports by the over-the-air (OTA) antenna connected to my Samsung television. Apparently, at some point they may change the OTA standard to ATSC 3.0, also known as NextGen TV. I’m not entirely sure if my Samsung model qn65qn85dafxza has the ATSC 3.0 tuner already. The Google AI suggestion said that it probably does have this technology. Apparently, a lot of the broadcasters are considering moving to the new standard toward the end of this year. I could not find a date for when Denver would specifically be making the switch. Right now the Chargers vs. the Dolphins is being broadcast in 8VSB modulation on DTV Air 4-1 which means it is ATSC 1.0 at the moment.
My day started like it normally does with a shot of espresso. Brewing a single espresso shot was pretty easy with the Philips Baristina espresso machine. You have to empty the portafilter to brew a second shot of espresso. That act raises the bar to making that additional shot of espresso happen. Honestly, I now just brew one shot in the morning instead of a double to start the day. I even purchased a second portafilter so that I could make two shots of espresso in rapid succession without having to clean the portafilter. This diatribe might seem to be somewhat specific, but coffee in the morning is a key part of the journey. It’s perhaps the best unlock to start a day. Given that espresso is inherently better than coffee that just levels up the unlock to enable a perfect possible future. Obviously, striving toward a perfect possible future requires wonderful espresso shots.
My big plan for the weblog this week should have been different. On a go forward basis, I’m going to move the functional journal publishing framework from a daily sort of missives that go live as they are written to a weekly format with a Sunday target date for release. That seems to be the best way to move things forward. My will to engage in daily blogging is just not the same as it was and probably won’t return any time soon. Maybe a weekly publishing cadence will help me fill the pages throughout the week and get things ready for a big more sharing on a less regular publishing basis. That is where my thoughts are at the moment anyway. Thanks for taking that in stride and being ready to read a few thoughts about thoughts. This one is certainly a process deep diver into a very personal writing framework. Each week I plan to open up a new Google Doc and just keep the words flowing in one place until it is time to publish. This seems like a good and reasonable plan. We will see how long I’m able to sustain it before a major pivot occurs. It’s probably inevitable that a pivot will happen, but maybe for a time we can enjoy a reasonable cadence of functional journal missives.
