Gearing up for football
Apparently, I completely missed the start of the NFL preseason that happened on July 31, 2025. We have a physical antenna hooked up to the television in the family room so that we can watch over-the-air broadcasts. I just missed the game, but on the brighter side of things, a lot more NFL games are going to end up happening this year. A good number of them will be available on Sunday thanks to the antenna.
Instead of diving deep into Farscape, I ended up going back to finish out the last few episodes of Stargate SG-1, then accidentally watched the first episode of Eureka. It just auto-played at the end of my SG-1 binge-watching. Have no fear that nonsense did not continue for very long, and I have transitioned over to watching Stargate Atlantis. That means I watched 214 episodes of Stargate SG-1 and am reasonably committed to finishing out the 100 episodes of Stargate Atlantis.
For the most part, I’m gearing up for football season. I’m already ready for hockey to get going again for the start of the next season. I hand-collated a set of hockey cards from the last season, which was exciting. Opening packs and putting the set together was fun, and the Upper Deck Allure hockey product only has about 100 base cards, making it pretty easy to assemble compared to several hundred cards. Right now, I have every base card from the Upper Deck Allure hockey product ever produced. That side quest was pretty easy to assemble. The base cards are not worth a ton and are really easy to acquire.
Apparently, I have hit the hard cap for image generation within my ChatGPT Plus subscription. It told me that while the hard cap is not published, it happens to be estimated to be around 100 image generations per 7–10 day rolling window. The only thing I really do with the image generation technology is create thumbnails for posts on Substack. It’s really just creating images with words and moving along based on some rather specific formatting instructions. I’ll admit that at one point the model just went rogue, and it took 10 or more tries to get one thumbnail generated. I’m pretty consistent in the format I’m requesting and how I make the ask, so it was a little disconcerting when the responses went absolutely erratic for a bunch of image generations in a row.
