Distilling to the mean
Don’t worry, this prose is always organic. All the models and all the training may very well end up being a very expensive way of distilling to the mean. Some of it is even synthetically triangulated toward the mean, but that is a different story altogether. Let’s get back on topic here and avoid the synthetic. It’s a bit of a scenario that is constantly happening, but might not be completely obvious. I’m going to try to get a pass to visit Rocky Mountain National Park tomorrow. That should be much easier than it actually is in practice, as timed entry is still required. I still remember the joy of just showing up to the park and being able to hike around Bear Lake.
That reality is only an echo of what was possible. No model training can apparently fix that situation. Entry to the park is apparently something that must be carefully gated. I actually practiced logging into the site and putting a pass into the card a couple of times this week just to be ready for the window to open tonight. All the passes will be made viable and then will pretty much be allocated within about 2 minutes. We will see what happens here in about an hour.
The ordering process went well enough. Everything got all sorted out. Spoiler alert, tomorrow is going to involve an awful lot of walking. My big plan to touch some grass and walk around a national park should be easy enough to execute.
