Buying a portafilter replacement
Welcome to the strange and mysterious journey of buying a portafilter replacement. Seriously, these things are super important to the espresso-making process. They come in all sorts of different sizes, shapes, and weird color schemes. I really ended up on a strange journey on this one. The Philips Baristina is a very new device; it just came out this year. Getting another portafilter became a key concern for me after a couple of days of usage. It was an interesting journey. Let me tell you a little bit more about that process. Here we go…
Today, I figured out how to buy a replacement portafilter for my Philips Baristina with a little help from product support. It turned out all my targeted searches for a Philips-branded portafilter are where things went wrong. You have to be ready to affirm your humanity, but you can actually order one from the Encompass people online [1]. However, you have to accept the branding will be for Saeco instead of Philips, which is interesting. All the pictures look right. That could be misleading. I’m now waiting for the thing to arrive and have no fear that I will provide positive confirmation when it works. The website says it works with the model of Philips Baristina that is currently for sale, the BAR300.
