Apollo 13 on IMAX was excellent

We watched the 30th anniversary IMAX screening of the Apollo 13 (1995) movie yesterday. It really is an amazing story and one of director Ron Howard’s finest efforts. Everybody was surprised at the quality of the 30 year old film on the IMAX screen which is about as large as you can get for modern cinema. These remasters with screenings at movie theaters are interesting. Making events out of these sorts of things and bringing the art of the past back to the big screen does seem interesting. I’ll admit that it only took a few moments after seeing this one pop up on the AMC Theater options to go ahead and book tickets for the whole family. I know movies have been made about the space program and a variety of documentaries. All of that happened in an age before the digital reality of everything being content came into being. Times were different and in some ways it is hard to even reconcile what they must have done to complete all the calculations and math required to chart spaceflight.
During the previews they showed a trailer for the Tron: Ares (2025) film which of course is one that I really do want to see as I’m generally all in for anything Tron related. Knocking on the sky and listening to the sound is just one element of the Tron ethos which Jeff Bridges is able to bring to life during the movies. I’m curious to hear the full NIN driven soundtrack for the movie when it comes out. I already listened to the first track they released and it seemed to be aligned to the themes of the movie. It was not overly memorable as a song, but it was definitely aligned to the art being made. That movie comes out on October 10, 2025.
Today was a day devoted to figuring out the best method to focus and get things done. I’m still working on my 5 daily blocks of taking action plan. It’s a good plan, but it is hard to sustain.
