I joined the Windows Insider Program. I got an email from Microsoft on October 1, 2014. The email was titled, “Welcome to the Windows Insider Program.” The email was pretty clear, “Now that you’re a Windows Insider, you’ll be among the first to discover the new features and capabilities of Windows Technical Preview. We’re thankful for your willingness to give feedback on these early builds of Windows. Together, we’re building the future of Windows. Let’s get started.” I was sold. The download only took about 20 minutes from the preview site. I used the “Windows 7 USB DVD Download Tool” to move the freshly downloaded WindowsTechnicalPreview-x64-EN-US.iso file to a completely formatted 8 gigabyte USB stick. Using the boot from USB option, it took about 10 minutes to install the Windows 10 Technical Preview evaluation copy build 9841 on my old ASUS EeePC.
