Desk Cleaning Revisited

During the course of waiting for some deliveries yesterday, I managed to actually clean my desk. It was the kind of deep cleaning that involved moving things around to catch every angle. Monitors moved from one side of the desk to the other. It took about three hours of actual work. Things had to be put away throughout the house. Some things had to be thrown away or shredded. The desk looks great.

Three wireless routers in the same house was probably unnecessary. I was able to reduce my setup to just my ASUS RT-AC87U Wireless-AC2400 Dual Band Gigabit Router. It is the best personal router I have ever owned. The router provides outstanding connectivity for both streaming and gaming. It has a large enough range to cover the entire house.

The same Studio RTA desk I purchased as an undergraduate student at the University of Kansas is still fully operational. Those giant executive desk size pieces of tempered green glass could last for generations. The build quality on the desk was outstanding. It has survived storage units, moving states, multiple apartments, and 3 different houses. It has probably been assembled and disassembled a dozen times. It is without question one of the best quality purchases I have ever made. After a few internet searches, I could not find a link to it. I actually had a hard time even finding photos of a similar desk. The desk might have been so epic that the company stopped making them. Something would have to break the glass for me to need to buy a new desk.

My Lifespan treadmill arrived yesterday. A special delivery had to be scheduled. Getting the device into the basement was a herculean task. It was literally the heaviest object I have ever moved. It took about an hour to assemble. I’m going to mount a TV to the wall in front of the treadmill. That TV will only be connected to the internet via a Google Chromecast USB dongle. That should provide a never ending supply of content.

The Amazon Echo speaker system seems to work well in our bedroom. To make more content available on the device I signed up for an iHeartRADIO account. I’m not sure if that will make a difference, but it was interesting. Based on my previous streaming music service experiences, I can say that Pandora was much easier to setup and use.
