My plans to investigate, research, and discover everything I need to know about the potential components of a new computer build are now well underway. I’m planning to continue moving forward with a plan of completing comprehensive research over the next 30 days or so and trying to figure out exactly what I want to build out for my next main computer system. The last build lasted for more than 5 years before the Windows 11 upgrades related to the TPM 2.0 requirement made the system obsolete. I am however not totally convinced that the good folks over at Microsoft had to take this route.

Maybe they could have let people click a checkbox and live with a banner that says at the top the TPM 2.0 requirement is not met and that is a risk. I would have liked the option to live with the risk or to move on to a new system, but that choice was not given to me and now some hardware that works is just not acceptable moving forward. It’s not like the team at Microsoft apologized to the millions of chip owners who faced obsolescence. You can probably tell by now that I find this situation unfortunate at best and down right problematic generally.

The only purchase for this new computer system that has been made already is a new computer case from the team over at Be Quiet! in the form of a Dark Base Pro 901 case that should arrive sometime this week. After looking at a few options I think this new case will fulfill all my computer housing needs going forward.
